Tricked Into Murdering His Own Family

As servant for the God of War, Kratos and his men rampage throughout the known world, destroying villages and civillians at Ares brutal whim. One day, when attacking a small village for building a temple to Athena, Ares' rival, Kratos in his bloodlust murders his own wife (Lysandra) and daughter (Calliope). They had been brought to that village by Ares himself to deceive Kratos in a moment of uncontrollable rage, and sever his last connections to humanity. Ares thought this would turn him into the perfect warrior.
