Continuing his servitude to the Gods of Olympus, Kratos helps defend the city of Attica from the invading Persian Empire and kills the monster Basilisk summoned by the Persians. Then the Sun falls from the sky. Investigating, Kratos finds that the Titan Atlas has escaped from the pits of Tartarus in Hades and kidnapped Helios, a human sized Titan known commonly as the God of Light. With the Sun gone, the world is engulfed by the black fog of Morpheus, the God of Dreams, causing all the Gods to fall into a deep slumber.
